Wool question....help please :D

Ok, so I am brand new to wool.....I bought some sweaters while thrift-storing to upcycle. Here's my question.....If I am going to make longies (or even shorties for that matter) what's the better way to go:

Katrina's pattern with legs added

or

Just a basic "sew the arms together" pattern with a sling soaker inside?
