Turnip ideas?
I got 2 big turnips in my co-op today...what's a toddler friendly way to prepare these? Can I made "fries" with them? I don't think I've ever cooked a turnip before...
Any ideas?

Re: Turnip ideas?
I haven't tried fries just because they usually aren't long enough to make fries. But you can cook them almost anyway you would a potato. We like them roasted with potatoes or sliced and pan fried also with potatoes. Boiled and mashed. If they are young turnips you will not notice a flavor difference between the turnips and the potatoes especially if you use ketchup. But if they are mature and have been allowed to get too big they will have a bitter taste and it will be obvious which is the turnip and which is the potato. We like to put ours pan fired with potatoes and onions and in a root veggie chowder - same as any chowder but uses potatoes, carrots, parsnips and turnips with a dash or 2 of cayenne pepper.

Re: Turnip ideas?
We love them diced, tossed with olive oil & seasonings, and roasted.
