Buying/Selling flats question...
I think I made a newbie mistake! (This didn't happen on diaperswappers BTW). I offered to trade a brandy-new AIO GroVia for some birdseye cotton flats. BUT... I was very silly and didn't make it clear that I didn't want any Gerber or Gerber-like quality.
I had a mom offer me some flats and I agreed. Before proceeding I asked her what brand they were. She said they were all Gerber flats and sung their praises. I feel soooo embarrassed now. I'm so glad that I thought to clarify! But... I was really surprised that someone would attempt to trade gerber flats for something like that. I shouldn't assume people wouldn't? How do you go about buying or trading for flats?

Re: Buying/Selling flats question...
Flats are so expensive to ship because they're heavy, i've bought mine new.

Re: Buying/Selling flats question...
So moms generally don't buy or trade flats from other moms? The shipping makes it too expensive?

Re: Buying/Selling flats question...
As pp said flats are expensive to ship so often cost the same used as they do new.
Oh by the way I love my gerber flats padfolded. As an experiment I did double them fold to size and lay in a third padfolded. Then I pinned them on my son. Amazingly they worked great. I let him wear them overnight. Of course my son is a light wetter. I do have other flats and primarily use my gerber flats padfolded for Extra absorption.

Re: Buying/Selling flats question...
Yeah they are heavy and kind of pricey to ship. I would get used flats if they were in an FRB stuffed to the gills, otherwise free shipping works better for me

Re: Buying/Selling flats question...
You can try Craigslist for selling them, to avoid the shipping issue. I've noticed the same issue with prefolds, you can generally find a coupon and free shipping new for the same price as used.

Re: Buying/Selling flats question...
Ok... I will go with buying flats new with free shipping instead. I think that'll be safer!
I'm depending on my flats as it'll be our sole diapering system given our specific living situation. I suppose it's wise to invest well in them.

Re: Buying/Selling flats question...
Probably better off selling the Grovia AIO outright (either here or in the Grovia B/S/T on facebook) and using the proceeds to buy flats from a retailer. I haven't tried them, but I saw that Diaper Rite are 10% off at Diaper Junction right now, and it's possible you could stack on the coupon they send you for writing a review (I'm not sure that works, but definitely worth a try!).
