Its time for us to size up, I am having trouble choosing between GMD browns or Cottonbabies or Imagine Premium prefolds (the skinny long kind 13x19).

We trifold so I am not sure it is worth the extra width. We so have one premium prefold and we have to fold down an inch. Should I just buy some GMD browns?

I was almost never able to trifold with my GMD browns because they were so long. If you need to fold them down its kind of hard in my experience because they are long but shorter than a premium. You know how its harder to fold down a little bit of material than a lot?

What size covers are you using to be trifolding with browns?

The trouble with folding down on premiums is the big bump. But if you don't mind the bump the premiums would probably be cheaper at least.

Of course there are also other large prefolds. I loved trifolding with my Diaper Rite Oranges (which are shorter than my GMD browns) and I think the Imagine blue edge are shorter than them.

Thank-you, I am using large covers and he has outgrown his Imagine Larges so I need something large. If anything I am afraid the browns won't be large enough.

wow well the GMD browns are the longest biggest sized pfs I know of. So I would think they would work. I guess its up to you if you want the fold over lump from premiums. I know for boys it can be extra absorbency. I honestly used my premiums way more than my GMD browns just because they were more versatile but most people seem to prefer sized pfs.

I bought one premium to try. I fold the premium down 1 inch so not much of a lump, my concern is since they are narrow they won't hold as much pee. He is not anywhere close to being potty trained so folding down a little is not too big of a deal.

Hmm that is an interesting thought. I haven't really noticed a difference on absorbency between my browns and my premiums. Maybe if you scout around on FSOT you can find a brown or two to try. That is how I tried browns before I bought mine.
