Stash changes for stages
Prefolds jellyrolled and covers were great for a newborn that didn't move. Fitteds and covers or wool covers were great too. I love flips with padfolded flats. But with a 1 year old who flips over and stands in a second and is really strong and I have to fight to get a diaper on, pockets with velcro seem the best because I can put them on in awkward positions lol. Wish I could afford some more pocket diapers.

Re: Stash changes for stages
I love my varied stash because different things work and different times..
but I also don't allow gymnastics while diaper changing is going on. Babies/toddlers lay still get their diaper changed and then they can wiggle and giggle to their hearts content.

Re: Stash changes for stages
How do you get them to do this? My daughter is 14 months old and very determined. It's a fight to get her to lie down.

Re: Stash changes for stages
I used to use a bit of bribery by letting them hold my phone or the tv remote, which were otherwise forbidden items! Plus I got really good at a speedy change (we used pockets though, first velcro BG's then snap FB's)

Re: Stash changes for stages
A toy or some other distraction along with a firm lay still command. If they are being very wild on the changing table then a small tap on the butt works. I am not mean, it doesn't hurt, leave any marks (before I get flamed) but it does get their attention. It only takes once.
Messing around on the changing table is dangerous. I am not changing on the floor, it hurts my back. Plus I am not the only one who changes diapers. I would not want someone who watches my children to have to deal with a wild child that is a PITB to change a daiper. that is not fair to them.

I have given toys and such in the past, my boys really like headbands lol! And even though the newbie is only 2months I have already gone through several "what works/fits best now" changes. I've done some stash changing but I'm trying not to do too much because I feel like it changes every week!

When DD was in that stage I used bribery too, with forbidden items like my phone, ziploc bags, rubber bands, etc. She's now 18 months and will lay perfectly still until I'm done, but if it is a really bad poo that I'm gonna need longer time to clean her up I'll give her something to play with.
