Re: While i go crazy waiting
Could be a Sensory Processing disorder, rather than full on Autism spectrum. My son was diagnosed with SPD at age 4 and for awhile we did wonder a little if he might be on the spectrum. He is a combination of sensory avoider and seeker just depending on what it is. He had delayed speech (over 2 years old before he really started talking) and still shows some difficulty with social skills. He's in Occupational therapy and has been for the past year. He's made a lot of progress through it too.

Re: While i go crazy waiting
Good luck mama! My son blossomed in developmental preschool. It was great for him. 5 days a week, and bus transportation (complete with harnesses) is provided. I would highly recommend you give it a chance. He loves going (after the initial adjustment period), and his vocabulary has skyrocketed to the point that after about 9 months, he is age appropriate and beyond. They work on his sensory needs, and help get him prepared to function in a kindy class. His class is small, and they have an OT, ST, preschool teacher, and a para for 10 kids.

Re: While i go crazy waiting
Well, we did the screening test. It's basically a junior version of the ADOS from what I understand. It was exactly the train wreck I expected. They told me it was geared to non-verbal kids, but there was a whole lot of verbal directions. Also, every time my son showed interest in a toy, it was taken out of his hands and he was alerted to something else. He looked up at the man screening him every time his name was called even though he was screaming hysterically. They were unsure how to score it and were having a team meeting. His EI teacher obviously can't diagnose, but said that he was probably just quirky. I agree with that. I feel like he's just way to socially aware for autism.
