So my 7 month old is having terrible nighttime sleep and terrible naps aka only 20-30 minutes at a time maybe 45 mins tops.. I know it's a sleep cycle issue like he can't get back to sleep after changing sleep cycles. How do I aid him in his? We have always rocked to sleep with a paci. CIO isn't an option and its a bad idea for him as yes we tried it and all it did was hype him up not to sleep

Re: Transitioning sleep cycles
we used a white noise machine and a crib thing that lit up and played for a little while.
we were also still swaddling until 9 months, which helped. If you'd like to break the rocking routine, but not use CIO, I'd recommend laying him down in his crib and just patting his back, singing - whatever calms your kid.

Re: Transitioning sleep cycles
I transitioned like this
Paci/Holding/Rocking to Paci and I will hold you and sort of meander around the room to Paci and I will hold you, but in a chair, sitting still to Multiple pacis in the crib that he can find on his own when he wakes up and has trouble soothing himself It took a while, but he seemed to respond to taking away one thing at a time. Around 10-11 months finally when he woke up in his crib he would look around for the pacifier and then put himself back to sleep.
