Re: Pack n play instead of crib
My kids have slept or napped in the pnp at one time or another and it doesn't seem to phase them.
My 2 year old chooses to sleep on the floor even though she has a perfectly good bed 2 feet away. Honestly I don't think it's all that uncomfortable at that age, and definitely not unsafe. |

My baby went from the fisher price rocker to the PnP w/ stages. We had to move in with DH's parents and there isn't room for a full crib. This works perfectly, and you can buy sheets for it. My son sleeps in it just fine, and the size is much better. We bought the travel lite for its size, but even my 2 year old has been caught laying in it (curled up). It's roomy enough and has levels just like a crib. My doctor said it was just fine. As long as its a flat surface and not pillowed or anything hanging down. The sides are mesh so there's not a crib bumper issue. I love it. I randomly came across it as babies r us when searching for a mini crib.

My 15 month old sleeps in a pack and play and has since he was about 6 months old. We have a crib, but my 2.5 year old is still using it. We plan to move him out at 3 and give the crib to the little one then, but until then he will continue to sleep in the pack and play.

Re: Pack n play instead of crib
My oldest slept in one exclusively until she was about 22 months. We were renovating and didn't have room in the non-renoed bedroom to set up a crib. She never complained, and slept 12+ hours at night starting at about 4-5 months old. The only problem was that they're not that strong, and by the time she was done with it she was 30lbs and had warped the floor of it

Re: Pack n play instead of crib
Yep.... DS2 LOVED his PnP.... he never slept in the crib.... we tried, he did.not.like.it.... so he stayed in the PnP until about 2.5years when he then went into a toddler bed.

Re: Pack n play instead of crib
All 3 of our kids slept in the PNP in our room until a year and then went into a crib, but only because we had a crib from DS. If I had known how well the PNP would work I would have skipped the crib. The only thing is the PNP would be easier for an older baby to crawl out of (but is alot closer to the floor for falling out too) but DD1 fell out of her crib at 18 months and was then put into a toddler bed. I would have easily skipped the crib if I had known.

When we were buying baby things my dh asked, why cant we just use a pnp, why do we need the crib? My only answer was there must be a reason because ive never heard of any one doing that but now I know better and kind of wish we had skipped the crib

Re: Pack n play instead of crib
baby seeps in the pnp in our room....she is 17 months....I put a thick memory foam in it for "comfy" and she sleeps fine in there. Our crib was recalled after Emma and I could not see spending hundreds fo $$$ on another crib and mattress (we have 2 crib mattresses but the middles are using them in toddler beds) .... eventually baby will move to one of the toddler beds and the middles will move into bigger beds....sometimes she also sleeps on our indoor trampoline
