Re: HOW DO I START?

Welcome! I assume you are from Hawai'i? If you live on Oahu there's a place called BabyAwareness that has classes on EC in Manoa Marketplace. If not, I'd say just start with some nakie time to observe baby's cues and whenever baby is going poops or pees make a "pssss" and grunting sound. There's a website called ECSimplified.com where you will find her book as well as many informational blogs. It's the only book I've read through but it's been really helpful. My babe is 4 months also, but we took a break from EC since the whole family was sick and I still need to potty train my 23 month old. Poops are usually easier to catch at first, but once you pick up on baby's timing and cues, pees become easier, too. Keep us posted!

Lol! Oh well, Big island is a lot prettier! Anyway, you could get a top hat potty from theecstore.com or try to snag a Baby Bjorn Little Potty off of Craigslist. They are hard to find now since the company doesn't make them anymore. Next size up is the BB smart potty. That might work just as well

Re: HOW DO I START?

I really liked this book http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../dp/0061229709

It was easy going and supportive for part time ec and late ec. It really made me want to EC!

Re: HOW DO I START?

I'm not sure how to start, either. I'm thinking to get some waterproof pads, put them on the floor, and let the little guy play until he goes. Then I'll make the "psss" or grunting sound and watch what he does and how he looks when he does go. Seem simple, but I'm sure it won't be once I actually do it.
