Yogurt and granola recipes
I am a huge granola and plain yogurt eater for breakfast (or snack now that I'm breastfeeding and constantly hungry). I'd love some easy recipes or links especially if they are thriftier than buying ready made yogurt and granola! thanks

Re: Yogurt and granola recipes
Paleo mom has a great granola if you are looking for something a little less traditional.

I'm afraid I don't have links but here goes. I like the NYTimes olive oil granola (Google it) but add 5 cups oats not 3, it's less sweet and more frugal. I like the maple granola from the King Arthur Flour Whole Grain Baking Book, don't Google it b/c the online version is *not* the same. Next up to try is the one from the Smitten Kitchen cookbook, it looks similar to the King Arthur recipe but chunkier.

Re: Yogurt and granola recipes
We're nut free so just add whatever nut you want.
Here's a granola we like http://joyinmykitchen.blogspot.com/2...l#.USoFY6VJMjw A slightly less sugar version (and smaller recipe) 3 cups oatmeal 1 teas cinnamon 1/3 cup raisins or other dried fruit 1/2 teas salt 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 Tbsp honey 1 Tbsp veggie oil Preheat oven to 300. Mix dry ingred and raisins. In sauce pan heat applesauce, honey, brown sugar and oil. Mix all together and spread onto baking sheet. Bake stirring every 10 mins until a deep brown about 45 mins. This is completely optionally, but turn the oven off without opening the door and let the granola sit for another 15 mins or so (some people leave over night) this will help it be crunchy. We use this recipe to make these http://www.rachaelraymag.com/recipes...y-granola-bars sometimes. You omit the brown sugar and raisins in the granola if your going to use it for the bars. I know you didn't ask for granola bar recipes but this one is a favorite of my my dd http://allrecipes.com/recipe/playgroup-granola-bars/ . These are harder (the ones above are less chewy). Its a basic recipe, take the raisins out and you can make any kind you want. We usually do dried cherries or cranberries and chocolate chips. We usually end up taking about a week and half to eat the pan. They stay on the counter the whole time and are still good. We don't make yogurt, we don't eat enough of it to make it worth it for us.

Re: Yogurt and granola recipes
If you are still looking for yogurt recipes I've had really good success with making it in the crockpot. Here's the link to where I learned: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008...-crockpot.html I've been making it for a year now and it really is quite easy and forgiving. I use StoneyField Organic Whole Milk Plain Yogurt as my starter every handful of batches, otherwise I just use the last of my previous batch as a starter. I usually end up freezing my yogurt in ice cube trays, and even the frozen yogurt works to culture (is that the right term?) the next batch.

Re: Yogurt and granola recipes
Do you want just "granola" like the loose crumbly mixture, or do you want a "granola bars" recipe?

Re: Yogurt and granola recipes
thanks ladies- initially I wanted granola to top yogurt with, now that I'm nursing (and living one-handed), a bar recipe sounds brilliant, so I'd love both.
