Ebay and Echecks

I sold something via auction, and the person paid with an echeck not set to clear until March 5th.

Is that allowed?

Obviously I won't ship until it clears, but I'm a little annoyed that now I have to wait for my money (I wasn't expecting this kind of delay).

im not sure, ive never heard anything that says its not aloud, so unless you put in your listing that you do not accept echecks i would say its aloud. A huge pain to have to wait though

I too just had this happen yesterday, but I thought I already had my ebay settings so you could only pay with funded paypal...no e-checks. In the past I had someone pay via e-check, a week or two later it couldn't clear, then I had to wait another 2-3 weeks for it to try to clear again. It finally did, but it was a long, drawn-out painful process!

How do you know if your paying by echeck?

I accidentally paid by echeck once. I didn't realize it wouldn't just come out of my account. I imagine it would be annoying for a seller, so I haven't done it again.

if you do not have a back-up funding source (credit or debit card) it will process as an echeck from your bank account.

I always do stuff as a withdrawl from my bank account and it always comes out like the next day. I do have my card number in there and maybe that is the difference, but maybe it won't actually take that long?
