Constipated using Gerber Good Start Protect

My 2.5 month old gets half breastmilk and half formula in a bottle. We were using Gerber Good Start Gentle without problems, then we got a bunch of cans of Gerber Good Start Protect free from a friend. We switched over about 5 days ago and my little guy is very gassy and constipated. He went two days without pooping and then pretty much exploded with a very thick bowel movement. Its been almost two days again and no poop yet. Should I switch back to the Gerber Gentle or does it take longer to transition and he'll get better?

It takes a little while to transition from one formula to another for some babies. My daughter had no problems with me go back and forth with whatever formula I had on hand. But, I know that some babies have issues even if it is the slightest change.

Just do some tummy massage. And if you really want him to go, you could also try rectal stimulation.

My DD would did this when we first switched to soy formula, but soy formulas are notorius for causing constipation issues. The only soy formula that didn't constipate her was Baby's Only Soy, and it is what we're still using.
