Ok i have had a lot of transactions but i wasnt sure what to do with this.

A mom has several of the same item listed for $Xppd. I told her I was interested and asked if she had feedback elsewhere. She msgd me her pp addy and her feedback info..then 3hrs later when I say sure I will take em lemme send pp in an hr. then she says ...to "avoid fees" i can send funds as personal or i can just cover the extra fees. Uhmmm

I told her i would just pass bc i dont really want to pay OVER her asking price and i dont feel comfortable sending $$ as gifted bc it offers me no protection thru pp. i hope that doesnt come off as mean or rude. The items were listed "ppd" ..was I in the wrong to say id just pass?

She isn't allowed to ask you to cover fees. She needs to account for them in her asking price.

yes asking for the buyer to cover fees is against DS rules as well as Paypal rules.

It was on facebook swap ..she has a username here but i am not sure how active she has been.

also...never ever ever pay personal for an item...you don't get paypal protection if you do

It is against PAYPAL'S TOS to ask the buyer to cover fees. No chance would I ever pay as personal. And ppd means that everything is included. I would have done exactly the same as you and passed.

Yeah I never send as gifted but I wasnt sure if it was rude to just kinda wash my hands of the entire transaction...

I guess whatever I said wasnt rude though bc she agreed to sell for her original asking.

I would have done the same thing, not worth the risk to send it as anything other than goods

glad it worked out for you mama, i think many times people arent trying to scam or be dishonest, they just want more profit
