They sell metal scrubbies real cheap at the grocery store if you need to deep clean your pan. I would also not ever suggest using oven cleaner.

Not for me. I've seasoned three pans and I third(?) the flax oil recommended above. Olive oil left my pans sticky.

I use macadamia nut oil. I have heard that olive oil can make the pan sticky, like the pp said.
