Can I take the combination pill while breastfeeding an 18 month old?

Yeah -I am not thrilled. Glad it made me feel funky so I pulled it out after 2 months. I could have gotten blood clots. You are lucky it has not dried you up. Your prolactin must be on the higher side. If I go near even Progestin my supply suffers. I have lower prolactin levels and get AF back early. Lucky me.

i'm not sure, because with my daughter tho i got af back at 7weeks PP on the dot and was quite regular, my son i went alittle longer but was back to a normal cycle by 4ish months PP.

You are really lucky. I get AF back at 3 months PP (except this baby) and do not ovulate right away. As soon as 'o' starts for me (around 6 mos PP) my supply dips and I have to go on reglan. Maybe you do not 'o' right away either. You are very lucky that the estrogen did not effect your supply. It does with most women.

Like I said, NuvaRing never hurt my supply, either. I started using it when DD was 6 months old and started using it this time a week or so ago, when DS was about 23 months old (I used Implanon for a while with him and just had it removed).

When I just had DD, I pumped and donated as well. Now I nurse two and pump and donate. I don't know if I have prolactin through the roof or not--I have a friend who makes too much prolactin and therefore doesn't ovulate, but I don't appear to have that problem either.

Well, this may all be a moot point. My period was a lot shorter this month even though it was still heavy so I'm hoping my body is starting to get used to the copper IUD. As long as placement is good on Monday, I'm considering giving it another few months before I decide whether or not I want it out. Thanks for all your help!

My periods were already heavy before the IUD so there was no change for me. I bled like a stuck pig. I loved my Paragaurd though. It was very effective and caused me no issues other than my periods. I was able to get pregnant the month after I had it out, which was nice.
