Looking for support starting Clomid

I tried posting this under Clomid Club, and a secondary post under TTC, but that sub-forum seems pretty (oddly?) quiet right now.
Just looking for experience and support from other Clomid mamas.

My OBGYN is putting me on Clomid to support ovulation due to LPD. I am already O'ing on my own, but miscarried this past month at 13dpo, despite normal hCG level AND oral progesterone.
What can you ladies tell me about Clomid? Here are some of the questions I have...
Are multiples really that big of a possibility? (DH is a little nervous.)
OBGYN wants me to do days 1-5, but this seems unusual. Which days did you do?
Did you have a lot of side effects, and how long did they last?
Did Clomid work for you, or did you have to move on to/try something else? What are some other options (like B6) that I could do that won't interfere with the Clomid/Progesterone therapy?

This is a new adventure for us, so I appreciate any advice you have! TIA!

Did 3 cycles, got pg with twins once, lost one at 8wks.

Days 1-5 here as well

Did you have a lot of side effects, and how long did they last?
Hot flashes, that was it

Worked all 3 times. I did take Mucinex during to help with CM, Baby Aspirin for uterine lining and B6 throughout.

Thank you, AmeliasMum! I appreciate the response. Were they treating you for LPD, too?
What is the purpose of the baby aspirin, and where can I find it?

Clomid did not help us. Trying clomid only prevented us from trying IVF much sooner. At least I did not experience any noticable to me negative side effects from it.

Clomid turns me into a huge B.....HUGE! It did nothing for me, we had to go to the big drugs and even with them, we had 5 follies and only one baby out of it. Try not to worry about the multiples risk to much, there are much worse side effects when playing with fertility drugs.....like over stimming......I did on 50mg of Clomid, it was the worse pain ever! My hands swelled so bad overnight that my husband had to cut my rings off the next morning....I could not sleep, could not get comfortable, my stomach bloated horrible and the pain was beyond anything one could ever imagine!

Yikes, Melmonkey! I'm so sorry! How awful! Is that common?

I also had LPD due to PCOS. I was put on Clomid days 3-7, which worked well for me. I also took it days 1-5 and ovulated on CD 12. CD 3-7 made me ovulate on CD 14. They do that to make you ovulate sooner to have a supportive LP of 12-16 days.

I called Clomid, Clo-mood. I was moody on it and could definately feel my ovulations. It only lasted while on it and then "o" pains during "o" and maybe right before.

I took 100 mg of Clomid to get Rory after 3 years of secondary infertility and 5 loss due to PCOS and the LPD. I also was on Metformin to treat the PCOS and stop the early losses and prometrium for the LPD and help.

I took a prenatal vitamin, Foltx (extra Folic acid, B6, and B12) for MTHFR factor, and a baby asprin.

Re: Looking for support starting Clomid

My clomid journey is still at the beginning but I thought it might help to get another newbie's view. This is my first month of Clomid but I also take Metformin. I take it days 5-9. I could REALLY tell when I was ovulating, it caused some pain that was noticeable but not at all unbearable. One day after the 9 days I got really nauseated for a whole 24 hours, and was so dizzy the room was spinning and I had blurry vision. This only lasted for 24 hours so it wasn't that bad. All in all I feel like it's doing something but still too early to tell... Only 4 DPO.... So we shall see!

Edited to add that I'm on 50 mg and I don't have PCOS or anything like that. I ovulate regularly and have 28 day cycles but have had 3 losses after 2 perfect pregnancies!

Re: Looking for support starting Clomid

I have done Clomid for two out of the three girls and the middle girl was just metformin. I took metformin with the clomid babies too. The first time it took 6months, second baby with just metformin 1 month, 3 baby 3 months (but that was after a fetal demise). I have PCOS and for the last baby did 50mg twice a day. It seems that my ovulations are always stronger on clomid and seems to drop better eggies No twins here, even though I would love some. I will be trying again at the beginning of 2014 after my husband has his v reversed so I hope it's quick again. Good luck!!
