Is there a trusted relative you could transfer your ds' money to on the short term? Or would you feel comfortable taking it out while you re-apply then re-depositing it after (not sure if it's something they keep tabs on or not)? Not completely ethical, but it's not like ds' money is being used for household expenses. And it seems like a double standard that they are counting your ds' money as yours, but they don't count his job as somebody in the household with a job.
