Sheet Overlay

Has anyone every made a sheet overlay (that's what I seem to find them called online)? Basically an absorbent layer that goes over part of the sheet for when your child wets through the nighttime pull up. I'm tired of washing sheets every day. I'd rather just pull one small thing off than remake the whole bed. I don't know where to start as far as fabric goes though. DS is currently wearing a homemade by me cloth pull up, but I'd still really like the added protection of a cover for his sheet. What would be a reasonably absorbent fabric I could buy at a local fabric place or will I have to order?

I used a flannel sheet folded into 3 layers and used PUL for the back. Works perfectly! I would think you could use flannel, cotton fleece (like for sweatshirts), cotton jersey etc.

Anything absorbent on the top would work and PUL or poly fleece for the bottom. It may be good to sandwich the PUL if you use that, it could be slippery and just end up bunching up.

I made something similar fir when PL'ing DD is on the couch :-). Just two layers of flannel and one layer of pul. The pul is exposed on the backside and i was worried about slippage but so far it has stayed in place reasonably well. I think as long as you made it big enough... Maybe with little cati cornered elastic straps to hold down the corners?
