Baby Holding Own Bottle of Breast Milk
BabyD is 7 months old and has loved her intro to solids. She is still having all her milk - 16-20 ounces from bottle while I am at work and 2 nursing sessions with mommy. I read somewhere that baby should be held for bottle feedings and asked my nanny to do so. I am having a heckova time getting her to follow my wishes (that's a whole 'nuther post, let me stick to one question here...)... so my question is, if baby is sitting in high chair for bottle feedings and sometimes holds her own bottle - is that problematic? I'm trying to figure out how much I want to fight this fight with nanny. [don't get me started on whether I should even have to fight to have my instructions followed, it's complicated...]

Re: Baby Holding Own Bottle of Breast Milk
Is the highchair reclined at all? I don't see a problem with baby holding her own bottle and feeding herself.

Re: Baby Holding Own Bottle of Breast Milk
I think my DD started holding the bottle herself sometimes at that age (from what DH tells me). By about 10 months she was holding herself pretty much all the time. Pretty sure she'd be quite angry now if someone tried to help!

Re: Baby Holding Own Bottle of Breast Milk
i don't think it is a big deal. Kinda envious of baby holding own bottle though.
None of my kids like to hold thier own bottles. We didn't do sippy cups till almost a year. We did food at the table and bottles were snuggle times.

Re: Baby Holding Own Bottle of Breast Milk
High chair is not reclined but in any case she doesn't seem particularly gassy - I don't know where I got this idea that they shouldn't hold their own bottle but I guess I'm over it. Thanks for the input. Now to answer my other question for myself......just don't mix business and family aka don't hire your sister in law as nanny.
