Fleece covers question

This has probably been answers a bajillion times but I searched and couldn't find a thread about it.

Will a fleece cover leak onto cotton jammies? If she's wearing a super absorbent fitted underneath? Need a good nighttime solution & thought fleece might be a good option but cotton jammies are a must during Texas summers!


I have a super heavy wetter at night and have explored tons of options without complete success with any of them.

E uses fleece diaper/ covers all the time. Sometimes her pants will be slightly damp in the morning from being soaked/ compression. But it is possible to leak out of them like a PUL cover.

I learned how to make my own out of the fabric she mentions and it was much cheaper but they are totally worth the money!

especially if you are using a good fitted underneath they wont leak at all! i use a snappied flat with a pafolded flat as a doubler and no leaks at all overnight, i love fleece!

If youre using enough absorbency underneath, no. The only time my dds pants get wet is if the waistband curls into the waistband of the fleece

Fleece is totally fine under cotton jammies -- although I agree they can sometimes feel a bit damp in the morning (I think it's from evaporation) -- but you have to make sure your little one is wearing a diaper that will not be soaking wet in the morning -- soaking wet generally compression-leaks through fleece; the breathable nature of the fabric means it's more porous, so wetness can pass through if it's not being held in by the diaper.

For nights, you need thicker or more heavyweight/tighter weave fleece since the diapers generally get more wet. If you order something made with anti-pill fleece, I found that 2-3 layers were needed through the wet-zone to hold up to a heavy wetter. If it's made from Wind Pro, you need fewer layers because that fleece has a tighter weave.

A nighttime cover may also need to be wider/taller-in-rise because nighttime diapers tend to be fluffier
