If your water takes forever to get warm get a cheap electric tea kettle to keep in the bathroom. Using warm water in the perineal bottle the first week (or longer) when peeing helps so much. Helps keep things clean down there too.

Also you will sweat like crazy and wake up drenched. Put a blanket, sheets, or towels underneath you to pull off the bed when this happens. Sleeping in wet sheets is no fun.

The bump takes awhile to go down and stretch marks will eventually start to fade, but it's a slow process

There is a ton of bleeding afterwards. Take advantage of those crappy hospital undies since at least it's not your laundry

You will feel slow and old getting up to go pee/shower/etc. you don't just hop up off the bed like you used to

Drink prune juice.

Have plenty of nursing pads on hand.

Thanks, ladies, for all of the great advice! I prepared her well. She had her baby early this morning! Water broke at 2am, baby born by 5:15! She was a rock star and I got to hold a brand new baby today, squeeeee! My belly makes a great baby holding shelf, lol

Prune juice is definitely a GREAT idea! Never thought of that but yes the easier you can make your BM after birth, the better!
