Clomid Buddies (Spring 2013)

Not to replace the Clomid Club sticky, but a few of us have noticed that the CC thread has gotten very slow, and it is hard to tell if it is active or not (since it is a sticky).
So, a few of us wanted to start a new thread for DS mamas who are actively giving Clomid a try. If you like, you can find the original CC thread, with lots of great info and encouragement, here: http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/...d.php?t=253301
If Clomid Buddies ends up being just a few of us for a few months, that's totally cool , but if other mamas want to keep it going once we move on, feel free! If it goes past May of 2013, I'll change the title to reflect that.

Since most of the women in this thread are trying Clomid to help with infertility or secondary infertility, please remember be compassionate in your posts!

We never expected to have trouble TTC. We have two beautiful children, but have always felt like there was another person meant to be part of our family. I have undiagnosed (not for lack of trying!) health issues that complicate my cycle, resulting in Luteal Phase Defect and 14+ days of spotting/AF each month. We have tried diet changes, natural supplements, etc, with no change. So, we have moved on to prescription meds, starting with progesterone, which was not enough on its own. I miscarried on the prog despite excellent hCG and Progesterone levels, so we are moving to the next step - Clomid.

We have two girls (8) and (5) and never had any trouble getting pregnant.... until we tried for number 3! Took us 2 years and then I had a missed miscarriage a year ago in February. Took me 3 months to lose the baby. After that the doctor put me on Metformin. I got pregnant again and lost the Baby in December. It seems the Metformin shortened my luteal phase. Also got pregnant the next month but didn't realize it and lost that one as well. I'm now back on Metformin and my first round of Clomid. I ovulate just fine, I have completely regular periods, 28 days, I really have no major issues except that I can't seem to get to baby number 3. Also my husband has been tested and got all gold stars! (those are my doctors words) So that's my story!!

Re: Clomid Buddies (Spring 2013)

Anybody else want to join us?
I am still waiting to start AF. I thought my OBGYN had told me to do Clomid on days 1-5 (she wrote "day 1" on the paper), but after calling for clarification, they said to do days 5-9. I think that is probably more appropriate for me, since I do ovulate on my own. From what I understand, taking it earlier seems to cause a release of more eggs, versus taking it later, which seems to result in a stronger over-all ovulation.
Has anyone else heard that, too?

Was told as a teen that I would have trouble getting preggo on my own because I never got a period or ovulated but maybe once a year if I was so lucky. Got preggo with Ds without any trouble...not even trying....and on accident...the first time we forgot to use a condom. Had Ds. Fell in love with being a momma and wanted more kids right away. and decided to start trying again when he was 4 months old. Tried for 10 months and went to the OB for a check up because I got a positive test at home that went from positive for 3 days in a row to progressively lighter until it was negative 5 days later. A week after that I got a period. OB said I had a chemical pregnancy and did research, ran tests and came to the conclusion that my eggs aren't maturing and my lining isn't shedding enough so it's hard to house a fertilized egg b/c it's hard for that egg to attach to a thick lined wall. Ob started me on provera/clomid round #1. Didn't ovulate. I took a month or two and started fertilaid. Nothing. So I have an appt next week for to start another round of clomid.

ETA: If this next round doesn't work....I am being sent for further testing with a specialist. The only periods I've gotten in the last year and a half are two from provera and 1 from that chemical. None on my own.

Re: Clomid Buddies (Spring 2013)

Veyr strange cycle this month, after progesterone and the m/c. I'm not sure whether I O'd late, or if my LP was a day or two longer. I've had to rely on my med a lot this month for my other issue, though, which makes me very nervous for TTC. I was hoping to be able to stay off of it for a while beforehand... A/F is starting now, so I'll be doing the Clomid thing soon. I did start the baby aspirin last night, too.

How are you ladies doing this week?

Re: Clomid Buddies (Spring 2013)

I just had a provera bleed. We aren't doing clomid this month but will be next month if we don't concieve on our own this month. I am on CD# 4 or 5. I'm not sure whether to count last thursday...I had a pinkish tinge in my CM then starting spotting on friday and then full fledge AF the last 2 days and now today I have spotting again. Would you count thursday with the tinge of pink as CD 1? I should be done with AF by tomorrow night (I get very short and quick periods when I do get one or if I do a provera bleed) so I plan to start testing for O tomorrow and baby dance every to every other night until the end of March when we start round #3 of provera.

Re: Clomid Buddies (Spring 2013)

Most of the people that I've asked about spotting (mostly my OBGYN, and TCOYF) say that you shouldn't count it until it is actually red and more period-like. I have at least three days of spotting before AF each month, but the OB says not to count it. It definitely does make it more difficult to figure out when you ACTUALLY started, though!
