Does it irk you when people post to your thread that they want to buy something...

...but then they don't buy it?

...and then don't respond to your pm with your paypal address, when they have "claimed" something on your thread, to at least say they don't want it anymore?

I think it's the height of rudeness - I think worse than pming someone to buy something and then going MIA. In my opinion it makes the item looks less desirable when someone posts they're wanting to buy something publicly yet it's still sitting for sale.

I just assume they've gotten busy, unless they say they are committing to buy it for sure, that is different. If it's like, hey, im interested, then they don't reply, no biggie, if they say they want to purchase it for sure, I would expect a PM, I never take anything said on a thread seriously. Im also not sure other members notice that another poster said they were interested then the item is still for sale, they might just assume the deal fell through.

As I buyer I will look through a thread really quick to see if the seller has marked it as sold within the thread (which really bugs me, why can't sellers put sold in the subject line or at least within the original post?). If I see a discussion back and forth about the item between someone inquiring and the seller I usually wait a little longer before PMing the seller in case it sells. So yes, I can see how it can be annoying to a seller since some buyers are more hesitant to make inquiries about something if there seems to be interest already.

I always check the thread in case a question I may want the answer to has been asked. If I saw someone had claimed it, unless there was a post afterward from the seller saying it was still available, I would move on. Just post that it's still available.

I try to scroll through really quick when in checking fsot for something but I'd prefer a simple 'pm'd you!' over a post of 'ill take xyz!'

Yes, I'd rather have them say "I'm interested in _____", rather than "SOLD! I'm buying them!". If nothing else it makes them seem really unreliable, and the next transaction I have with them, I'm more likely to skip over them and move on to the next interested buyer.
