Would it work to sew fleece on the outside to create an AIO?

I have recently tried sewing some fitted diapers with velcro closures out of old receiving blankets. I love how they have come out. This may be a really stupid, novice question...but I was wondering could you do a similar thing with the inside out of flannel but the outer fleece to create an AIO and avoid needing a cover over it? Bascially using a fitted pattern and putting one side flannel to one side fleece (with an inner absorbant layer between of course) and velcro closures. I know people use fleece to sew covers so I was wondering if that would work or not. I have never even tried a fleece cover so I have no idea if this would be a complete flop Thanks.

you mean a fitted with a fleece outter? They are generally considered "hybrid fitteds"

It might work, I have some fleece AIO and they always leak so make sure it is a pretty absorbent under.

If you did a double layer of fleece, it should work. But you might get leg leaks from wicking, or from pants riding up to close to the diaper.

Thanks so much for the input! Sounds like it might be kind of iffy as far as leak control. Good to know!

it would probably be equal to a fleece cover over a fitted. I did wool and fleece in the past and you always get dampness with those unless your baby only ever tinkles.

Re: Would it work to sew fleece on the outside to create an AIO?

I have tried putting a Nana's Bottoms fitted diaper on my son inside out. The fleece inner was then on the outside and the flannel was the inner (with a bamboo soaker). He's a heavy wetter so it didn't last past an hour. It might be okay with a baby that isn't a heavy wetter though.

If you want to use it as an AiO, and are using anti-pill fleece, you'll need at least 2 layers of fleece, possibly a third through the wet-zone.

For the inner, if you're using flannel, you'll want 8 -10 layers minimum, probably more like 15 or some extra snap-in doublers. It can work, you just have to have adequate absorbency!
