Re: Most insurance companies are covering BREASTPUMPS!

Update for April: I called Tufts today and yes, they do cover it now! I have to get a Rx from my doctor, and there are various medical supply stores in my area. I am calling each medical supply place first to see which pumps they have before getting one. The medical supply place will ship directly to my home once my doctor contacts them.

I also had my mini pill covered for this month too.

I already have a PISA that I paid for OOP and they cannot reimburse me. Since I pump at home and at work, I think having a pump at the office and at home will make things so much easier on me.

We have Federal BCBS. After reading this post I looked through our insurance benefits and found that I could get a pump with no copay or deductible if I am nursing or pregnant. I called the 1800 number and told them I was pregnant and in 10 days or so I should be getting an Ameda double electric pump with storage bags! It seriously took less than 5 minutes.

I did recently get another DME company's number and they supposedly will do an ameda purely yours at no charge. They are in the process of processing my order and will let me know if I owe them anything. I am skeptical that I will get one free because of how our insurance is but I am crossing my fingers.

I am pumping a lot right now and I don't think my current pump will be able to keep up at this rate so I'd love to have a second.
Just an update. I received a call from the DME company. I can get an Ameda for the low price of $190!!! Lol. I don't understand why my insurance is allowed to avoid paying but they are. I have BCBS by the way.

I have anthem blue cross PPO and they covered a double Medela pump at zero cost to me. I did have to talk to 3 different medical suppliers since the first 2 were out of pumps. Worth the work

Sadness.....I have tricare. I dont need a pump, but I had low supply with both kids and will likely need to see an LC. It would be great to not have to shell out that fee. :-/

We tricare mamas need to start making noise til they cover us. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, right?
