I had no heart issues before. It was all the fluid they pumped in me. Ivs and induction started at 8pm on a Sunday night, epidural at 3am Monday morning, he was born at 10:30 Tuesday morning. My heart couldn't pump of the fluid, my lungs were filling, if I had waited 3 more hours to go to the hospital I would have died. They had discharged me already and I had been home for a while.

Re: High risk?

That is so scary! I didn't realize that could happen. I was pumped majorly full of fluids during both of my births (induction turned c-section and induced vbac).

This will be my 5th c-section. I am worried my OB will say I am high risk and tell me to find a new doc.

Wow. 5, your a trooper. I'm not looking forward to my second. C-sections are not fun. Hope you have good luck with your doctor.

Apparently it isn't that rare. There was another lady that came in the night after me with the same thing. She actually went into cardiac arrest and was a lot worse off than I was. Ironically, she had just had her 3rd baby too. I was admitted to the cardiac floor since they had discharged me and wouldn't let me back on Mom and Baby. The nurse had been there 20 years and said she saw it about 6 times a year. Kind of makes you wonder why they don't change things, right?
