I've had HSLDA go to bat for me once because my district kept asking for more than the law allowed.

They also flew in to help friend's of ours in front of their school committee when they were denied permission to homeschool. (One of the parents was a school teacher the other a Ph.D. in History) It was a board election year and one of the members thought this was an issue that would attract favorable press for her.

I would have jumped at a free membership. Besides the discounts I would have had a more thorough picture of homeschool issues in my state.

I did end up signing up and just got my membership stuff in the mail, but I haven't had a chance to open and look at it yet.
