Tongue Thrust and speech therapy questions

My friend's daughter has a tongue thrust, and the orthodontist put an orthodontic nail (not a real nail) on the backs of her front teeth. Her tongue thrust stopped the same day. Sounds harsh, but years in speech therapy did nothing for her thrust.
