Re: vbac after 2 C/S anyone? or am I crazy...

This is excellent news. I was wondering the same thing. I've also had two c sections and thinking about trying for a vbac next time.

...I needed to see this thread today. I thought I would get a VBAC this time but I'm showing no signs of labor so we have a CS2 scheduled in a few days and I was feeling really bummed. I'm really happy to read about everyone's positive experiences!

I have had 2 unmedicated vba2c's and going for a 3rd in July

ITA, join a local ICAN chapter, or an ICAN online group.

Good luck!!!!!!

Going for HBA2C early next year.

It's totally possible, you CAN do this.

The last ob I went to said vbac after 2 sections was still okay. After 3 was a no go for their practice. It was a group practice.

Re: vbac after 2 C/S anyone? or am I crazy...

I have had three successful VBA2C (2 c/s) Totally doable! Looking forward to my 4th VBA2C this Nov!

Each baby and labor is different. Unless we are talking structural anomalies, there is no reason to have a C/S just because you had to before. It does take some time to find a supportive provider. Some are scared off by that second c/s which is dumb IMO. Their own governing body, the ACOG says women with 2 c/s can VBAC and should not be discouraged - but I have met plenty of discouraging OB's and even midwives! Most VBAC-seeking women are plenty cautious and nervous on their own so I can't recommend enough that you find a encouraging supportive HCP.

Also, at least for your first VBAC, a woman should have another woman there who has given birth vaginally. Hire a doula, ask a friend, but something about it helps decrease the risk of C/S. It worked great for me! I did OK flying solo (well with just DH anyway) by VBAC #3 but something about that women energy is very empowering and healing during a VBAC labor.

Also really research about VBAC and what increases and decreases risks of C/S. Its empowering! Look at your own labor history and figure out where, if applicable, a different choice might have led to a different outcome. Its not all up to us, of course, but sometimes our choices can make a difference. It has helped me even with subsequent VBAC's to look at my first VBAC and so on. There are lots of reasons labor stalls and lots of options. I highly encourage you to go with an accomplished CNMW group in a hospital setting. Just my but its the best of both worlds. They are more patient with the idiosyncrasies of labor, have a better repertoire of skills to avoid C/S, and the OR and back up OB's are right there if you need them.

I second finding your local ICAN group. Also follow your instincts and if your current provider is not supporting of VBACs then shop around. The doctor works for you not vice versa.

Proud 2VBA2C mama
