Hand foot and mouth question?

I'm supposed to go to a baby shower Friday. My 18 month old twins have the virus. It's dangerous for pregnant women. I have a few sores on my tongue. Would it be better for me to skip the shower? I'm nervous about passing it on.

Re: Hand foot and mouth question?

My youngest had it last summer and we were told it was very contagious and to quarantine ourselves basically until the sores were no longer open and scabby. A coworker was pregnant at the time and they made me get a letter from the dr stating that I didn't have it and I had to wait a few days before going back to work as to not expose her. An after school program my kids go to had a kid wind up with it last week and they closed down the center to sanitize the entire place and the child that has it cannot return until it's all cleared I would hesitate to go to a shower.

Since you have some sores, then I'd skip it. If you were symptom-free, then I might go to the shower but just be sure to wash hands thoroughly and avoid contact with the pregnant woman just in case.
