Wow I had no idea kids could shoot so young. I'm going to look into getting a cricket for the younger two. I'm sure my oldest can handle an adult sized 22. I'm also relieved to know that lots of families teach their kids to shoot. In my circle of friends though I know I'm the weird one lol. heck they thipppppp0pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp p0pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp ppppppppppppppppnk it's weird that I shoot

Re: if your children shoot.....

We never had toy guns or water guns because you never aim guns at people is rule #1. Guns are for hunting animals and for home and self defense. They are for killing. Toy versions seems confusing. We used squirt bottles for water play.
Around 4-5 years we started gun safety and target practice with a .22 rifle. It has a custom stock that dh made that happened to be quite child friendly. Boys are almost old enough to take hunters safety classes required to purchase hunting permits.

www.appleseedinfo.org has low cost safety and marksmanship clinics for all ages. I attended a few years back and highly recommend.
