Oak Meadow 1st grade or K

Spam me with both. Trying to decide if K or 1st is appropriate for my 5yo. She's a bit advanced, but I'm worried about making things too difficult.

Respond her or a pm

Re: Oak Meadow 1st grade or K

A five year old? I'd say kindergarten. My son loved school last year and from looking at the k then 1st curriculums, they are similar but 1st has more going on plus music. I'd say the transition from k to 1 will be easy since we've done a year but starting out with first for a 5yo could be difficult. Good luck! Oak meadow is wonderful!

She's 5, but she knows all her letters and their sounds and can combine most of them to sound out some words.

I looked over the k curriculum and it seems like it would mostly be a review of what she knows.

Re: Oak Meadow 1st grade or K

There's a lot more to it than learning letters but yes that is a big part of the k curriculum and first curriculum. I'm sure she will do well with 1st then!
