Question ideas for collard greens

I am not a veggie person by all means but my new out take in life has taken me to venture into the world of "green". I seriously have no idea what to do with any of these things to make them taste acceptable to my pallet . Today aas broccoli. .. oh how I dislike eating little trees with a passion. Tomorrow is collard greens, ideas on good recipes? Sauteed things in garlic and olived oil is not cutting it lately

I make smoothies with collard greens.....milk, some frozen fruit (blueberries or strawberries usually), a whole collard green leaf, and a banana. We love it and all we taste is the fruit. Spinach is also good to hide in smoothies.

Collards are bitter, but they become less bitter the longer they cook. So you can boil them for an hour, then drain and quickly saute' with garlic and bacon. OR you can blanch them for 20 minutes and then do the above but also include a little cider vinegar and brown sugar to mask the bitterness.

I'm from the South and Collards are a staple. We usually sautee Bacon or ham, onions and a tad of garlic. Add water and collards and boil down for a couple of hours on low. Drizzle on a vinegar based hot sauce when ready to eat.

ETA: wash well..between the leaves can be sandy

Re: ideas for collard greens

OMG how I do love collard greens, and I can finally cook them for myself now, thanks to my best friend and fellow greens lover! I wash and pick mine then put in a pot with pork or turkey necks (ham hock or any salty meat works great, I like smoked meats better but not necessary), onion, salt and pepper, and a little red pepper. Boil them slowly until they are done to taste. I had some at my friend's house this past week but now I'm gonna have to go find me some greens and make some.
