My Mood:
Re: My four year old's annoying mannerisms

My 7yo has talked like that for years, minus the drool. She talks so fast sometimes that she doesn't pronounce her words well and they get all slurred and such. I just look all confused and say, "Um...what?" She giggles and repeats herself more appropriately.

I'd say, "I can't understand you when you talk like that. Will you say that again?" Even if you understood it. I use that phrase when my kids are really whiney, or if their mouths are full of food too.

Re: My four year old's annoying mannerisms

I am finding the 4-yr mark to be a tough age to handle! My son is soooo demanding and headstrong and whiny... I hope these kinds of things are only a phase.
Do you find your daughter does this more often when she is really tired or begging for attention?

Re: My four year old's annoying mannerisms

When my son annoys me with his melodramatic mannerisms, I try to tell him, "Mommy can't understand you, talk in a nice voice". Doesn't always work, but its a good start. After that, if he still doesn't stop, we say he can't be with us until he changes his attitude.
