Post partum carpal tunnel

Have any mamas had this? About a week before I gave birth my left wrist started hurting. My DD is almost 8 weeks and it hurts hurts hurts! I didn't hurt it in any way, it's sensitive, but suddenly shooting pain will go from my thumb down about six inches. OUCH! Opening jars, a door knob, pickish up my DD, un-clipping my bra. Pain. Anyone else have this experience? I have worked in almost a year so it's definitely not work related.

Help!

I had it too, from lots of swelling. I was back to normal 3 months or so postpartum?

I had it and it was because I was flexing my wrist when I carried or nursed her. So I had to make a conscious effort to relax my wrist esp. during nursing.

Google Finkelstein test, you might have a tendonitis. I have CT on both hands and tendonitis on my left. I had a steroid injection, but it didn't help much. I just have to lock the wrist and use my elbow for maneuvers.

I had to make sure I was switching hands holding the baby. Slings saved me, but I still had some pain.

Re: Post partum carpal tunnel

my nurse I had in delivery 3rd time said that it was normal when I asked as I kept forgetting to ask ob. I had it from the 3rd trimester to delivery then some. It will just take a while she said to loose the fluid around that area and is very common in pregnant women but eventually it fixes itself. I have been fine unless I sleep on my hand strangely at night. Good luck. I feel your pain.
