Best Diaper Pail

Just starting out and getting ready for the new baby. I know which diapers I am getting (and putting on my registry), but I was wondering what everybody does/use for a diaper pail. Do you use a diaper pail or just a regular trash can? TIA!!

My friends use trash cans. I have a safety 1st that works really well. It maintains the smell great and I highly recommend, but I do wish it had a step opener.

Re: Best Diaper Pail

I am actually making the leap from hanging bag to freestanding pail and need to get one now that my pail liners came in the mail. I was planning on looking at Target or a similar store for a regular kitchen pail. I'd be interested to know what features I should look for and which to avoid.

I just have a kitchen step can and I use Planetwise liners, it's been our method for almost 18 months now. Works great!

Re: Best Diaper Pail

i found a plastic storage container at walmart that is about the same dimensions as a 5 gallon bucket, and it's great for a diaper pail. when it's full to the top, it's the perfect size load for my washer

I used large, hanging wet bags. Just toss 'em in the washer with your diapers.

Re: Best Diaper Pail

we have always used a shorter kitchen trash can, like knee high, with a bummis large tote. It is perfect, and the tote has a drawstring for trips.

Re: Best Diaper Pail

We just bought a cheapie stainless steel look garbage can, it has a lid and a step to lift it. I like the size, but it's a bit tall. Had to switch from planetwise to Rumparooz wet bags, so when you are buying you might just want to check dimensions if you already have bags.

I got a can at Target the other day. It has a one-touch lid that you just have to press on and it pops open. It has a great little lip around the top to hold the bag in place nicely and fits plantewise bags perfectly.
