Re: Do you nurse from both sides at each feeding?

I have a VERY large storage capacity and over supply (10+ ounces per side), so I only use one side at a time or my baby would probably explode.

Follow your baby, they will tell you whether they need the second side.

We alternate sides with each feeding. When she was a newborn, it was both sides, but after my milk came in and regulated a bit, it's one side.

This is what I'm hoping to be able to do. I want to build a nice freezer stash before I go back to work so I don't have to stress about not pumping enough (I'm a teacher so its really hard to get in long enough pumping sessions).

One side. He usually eats hourly when awake. If he's wanting to nurse and it hasn't been an hour, I give the side he was just on in hopes of more hindmilk.

If its been an hour or more, I switch sides as it only takes an hour for your breasts to fill to capacity again.

If its been an hour since the initial feeding on a side, I switch as well. Even if its been less than an hour from the last 'snack'.
