Locking seatbelt?

I think I am putting our 6.5 year old in a high back booster tomorrow, I have seen people pull the seatbelt all the way out and click it back in so it locks the child in, but then I think I recently read on here that is a no-no?

Re: Locking seatbelt?

From what I've read you can do it as long as your vehicle manual allows it I think? Some people use it to remind new-to-boostering kids to stay in position.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the booster? I never heard of doing that as a good idea, but things can change, I guess I'd have to research it.

Re: Locking seatbelt?

It's generally not recommended. If a child needs that as a reminder to stay in position, then he/she is not ready for the responsibility of riding in a booster. In addition, some boosters and some vehicles expressly forbid it.
