Narrow FF seat

I have a petite 3 year old who needs a narrower seat for a three across installation. He's in a Nauti now which isn't going to cut it. Older brother is in a Harmony Dreamtime booster. We'll probably order the Combi Coccoro for the baby. Budget is roughly $150. I'm not particularly concerned with whether it works as a booster or not as we'll likely pass this seat down to #3 when #2 is ready for a booster in a few years.

I've been looking at the Harmony Defender online, but have yet to see one in person. DS2 is fairly skinny and from the pictures the seat doesn't look very padded. It doesn't look very comfortable or like it will fit him all that well, but I could be wrong.

Re: Narrow FF seat

Subbing. I'd like to know this, too.

Our minivan seats 7 and we're due with #5 in May. The bench seat in the back seats 3, but it will be tight, so finding a narrower seat and putting the 3yo between the teenagers might be the answer I was looking for!

Re: Narrow FF seat

I have a Harmony Defender for DD. Actually, we re-bought it after the first was crashed. I also advised my mom to get one for her vehicle. I really like it, but it has good points & bad. When the install is good, it's great...it's rock-solid in the 2nd row of my Sienna & my mom's Trailblazer. It's just okay in our Forester, though it was pretty good in my Impreza...but I can't get a good install in the 3rd row of the van. It does require the top tether whenever harnessed, so that's something to be mindful of w/ vans & SUVs. It is narrow, but fits DD (big & tall) pretty well. It doesn't have much padding (but neither does our Frontier), but DD has never complained of discomfort. IMO, the straps are short, but it's not an issue for us now. That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but if there are other questions, I can try to answer.

Well poop. The defender is out then. Top tether isn't an option.

Yeah, it's a PITA & was a consideration when we were vehicle shopping.

Re: Narrow FF seat

The only seat I can think of that is narrow and does not require a top tether (I think) is the Radian R100
http://www.justkidsstore.com/prod/di...car-seat/nitro

It is a bit out of your price range at $200 though but it is worth a look. If you wait for a sale you may even be able to find it cheaper than that.

I forgot that I do have a top tether in the middle seat. I'd been planning on putting the younger two outboard with the 6 year old in the middle, but if I put the 3 year old in the middle, I can use the tether for him. I'm only planning to use this car for another 6-12 months at which point we'll be getting something bigger.

I think I'm going with the Defender, but I want to actually get my hands on one first before I decide. Of course all the stores around me are sold out. If nobody gets them in soon, I'll order one.

Re: Narrow FF seat

I bought the defender for DH's car. I have to get 3 accross in his Taurus. DS2 is 4.5, 38lbs ish pounds. It seems to work. It is definitely more narrow than the nautalis. I asked him if it was comfortable and he said yes.

Granted he is only in this seat for running around town and daycare drop off. In my van he is in a Nautalis.
