I think I might have Thrush - I have read that I can use Gentian Violet to clear it up.

Tell me more about it - where to get it, how to use it, dose info, does it come in different strengths, and I use it on DS too (he isn't showing symptoms at the moment, just me)?

My DD had thrush badly early on so we did the "purple treatments" for some time. I'll warn you...it's a mess. And you have to be consistent or else it will return. I preferred to use gentian violet over the stuff the Dr. wanted us to use.
I think I bought mine at CVS...it's not expensive (around $4, I think). I've always read that you are supposed to treat both yourself and baby or else all you do is pass it back and forth. I can't remember dosing...I used Q-tips and swabbed a couple of times each day. But, ugghhh, it's messy.

Sorry I dont' have much help to offer. I know my friend used it when she had a yeast infection from nursing. It turns everything it touches purple, and doesn't wash out, so be careful what you wear. I think her dr. wrote a rx for it, but I'm not sure. You might be able to get it at a health food store or ask at the pharmacy.

It is available otc at pharmacies/drug stores. DH went to Walgreen's and they were out of it, but ordered it and it came the next day.

I bought mine at walgreens. And, just in case you ever happen to drop the GLASS bottle on your white tile floor and have to clean it up before your DH comes home from work and kills you, bleach works. LOL.

I would NOT use it! It can cause serious reactions, and is no longer sold in some countrys because it is a suspected carcinogen. There are other things you can use to treat thrush. This is where I got the info, and even thought it is directed towards vaginal infections, there are probably some remedies that would work for you too.
