how can I tell the difference between THRUSH & MILK?

DD has been nursing more frequently latley - "growing spurt " 6weeks old


my nipples are a littel red & were getting raw but now I do not have pain


but in her mouth she has white on her side & tongue -is this MILK ??/ how long does MILk stay on the tongue after feeding ???? Can I try & clean it off ??

My Ped told me to wipe the tongue with a washcloth... if it comes off - it's milk... if not it's thrush.

thrush looks more like "cottage cheese" from what I was told, DS would often have a white tongue from nursing lol

My oldest son had it really bad. If you do manage to rub it off, it will usually be very raw or even bleed underneath. It is possible for DC to have it and for you to not have any symptoms.

DS' entire tongue was white when he was born, and I just KNEW it was milk. Turns out he had a terrible case of thrush that took us like, a month and a half to get rid of.
