Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
My baby girl is 6 months and she will not do anything on her own. the longest she cna go with playing or entertaining herself is 20 mins and then she gets amd and starts crying. she does not liked to be in her mei tai anymore. she loves to be held but i can not hold her all day long and night like she wants to be. I hold her A LOT. always have. I want to interact with her but I also want her to learn to play by herself.

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
Consider yourself lucky, my 7 monther can maybe go 5 min and then wants someone to play with him or pick him up. I think he gets frustrated he is pretty darn mobile and wants to get into everything but cant or else cant reach or big brother gets mad and takes it away before he gets there
My firdt ds was delayed in his gross motor skills but just of his own temperment enjoyed just sitting there with books forever at time. Each one is different ![]() heidi

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
I'd say 20 min is pretty good, thats about how my little guy is for playing alone. Have you tried other carriers, maybe a change would help him to enjoy being worn again.

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
My baby is a year and never goes more than 20 mins playing by himself. The have plenty of time to become independent. I think at this age, it is more important that they are attatched.

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
My DS (who will be 5 months on the 5th) has been trying to stand up since he was about a month and a half old. So we went out and bought him an exersaucer the other day, and he LOVES that he can stand up and play. But when he's done with it, he's ready to be held again. (I actually worry that he likes to play TOO much...I feel sometimes like he's not spending enough time attached to me).

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
ds has always loved independant play, but at 5mths he was like yours, only would do it for about 20mins, they are still little, they only have short attention spans. that age was also around the same time ds no longer wanted to be carried or held to long, he was starting to assert his independance. I've never been able to carry him in a sling or carrier though, hes never liked them.

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
DS is 7 months and can entertain himself for a long time. We have tons of toys in the living room (and it is properly baracaded) so he can roll/crawl and play with what ever he wants. He will crawl over to one of us when he wants to be held. We have a jumperoo and exersaucer that can entertain him for ever but I try to keep him on the floor mostly.

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
Yes, my son will crawl out of the room I'm in, down the hall and into the living room to play. He's *very* independent right now.
BUT he's not like that all the time and right now he's teething very badly and he doesn't want to be put down. Its making this mama want to pull out her hair! |

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
My DD loved her Jumparoo at this age, she would bounce like crazy in it. She isn't so fond of it now, she hates being confined, but she is 14 mo. She doesn't even like for doors to be closed because that means she can't go in. I think at 6 mo 20 min at a time is prety good.

Re: Does you baby play and spend time by themselves?
Well I guess she is normal. My boys played for hours by themselves. neither liked to be held a lot and both were fine entertaining themselves. I am not used to this 20 mins thing.
