Milk before 1 year.

Anyone's ped put their DC on milk before a year? The boys are going for their 9 month checkup tomorrow and I think I'm going to inquire about it. He put them on solids early (which I got a lot of flack about) so I wouldn't be surprised if he does. Just wondered your experiences.

Our ped didn't put him on milk but we sort of did. We were moving from another country & changed him sort of on the way... he was 10 mos I believe. He's fine & alive & healthy today LOL He was on solids pretty early too. You do whatever works for you & your kids.

Not my ped, but WIC said we should start transitioning from formula to whole milk at 11 mo. I have known people who started their children on whole milk earlier, but I don't know that it was recommended. I don't know if your twins were premature or not, but I would be concerned that their bodies won't be ready for the large proteins in whole milk. That is one of the reasons you are told to wait until a year. But I guess it can't hurt to ask the ped what he/she thinks, and if he says to wait, hopefully he will give you a better time frame to start the transition.
