It's my turn-what can I take?

My 2 dd have been sick and now I have it. What can I take for a head cold while I'm breastfeeding? I worry about my milk supply and how meds affect it. Does anyone know what is safe while bf'ing.

Tylenol cold and alergy medicine even the sinus kind is safe. You can also ask the pharmacist and they will tell you which are safe. Sorry you don't feel well! Hope you feel better soon!

also, i suggest saline rinse for your nose/sinuses if they are stuffy. echinachea to boost your immune system. hot tea for sore throat. actually, there are many teas that help with colds. so you have a nice independent coffee shop in your area? they will likely carry herbal teas for head colds. hot showers to loosen congestion. you can press firmly on the sinus area starting at the top of your nose and sweeping out, under your eyes. i am not describing this very well. you will feel it loosen up.do this lying down flat. you should feel it start to drain.

If you take cold meds, you might want to stear clear of things made to "dry up" a runny nose or post nasal drip - they can dry up milk too. Antihistimines are BAD for drying you up - decongestants and expectorants can also pass into breastmilk, so you might want to ok them with your doc/mw first.
