Re: Do you like oatmeal? Tried this for DD this morning..
this sounds like a great idea. i am not a great crockpot cook (go figure), so having a recipe like this may help me out!
as for what to do with all those rolled oats you all have on hand now here is what i do:1/2 cup rolled oats (NOT steal cut or instant) raisins (i like the golden ones, but whatever you like) dried cherries (or whatever dried fruit you have on hand) walnuts pecans brown sugar wheat germ 1 cup water, micro for 2 mins. to get the convenience of instant packs, i have a bunch of ziploc bags with all the ingredients in each and just keep them in the cupboard. then in the morning i just dump one in a bowl and put it in the microwave. i know, not the best cooking method, but if you have the ambition to cook in the morning, kudos to you!

Re: Do you like oatmeal? Tried this for DD this morning..
I just read another thread about rice cookers for other grains...any of you ladies ever cooked oatmeal in your rice cooker?
When we make oatmeal, we cook it with milk (not water - yuk) and then add things like walnuts, pecans, dried cherries, raisins, cranberries, and maple syrup. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!! |

I've made steel cut oatmeal in the rice cooker before. You have to watch the ratios though because they seemed to be a bit off when I made it in my rice cooker.
