Diaper Swappers

I just change my DS diaper and found blood on the diaper and in his stools. Should I be worried? Should I call his ped or wait and see if it happens again when he poos? He didn't seem like he was straining to much when he pooped

When there is blood in stool that is coming from INSIDE the body it will be really dark or even black. If its from straining or something like that it will be a brighter color. (((HUGS))) Maybe he is/was a little constipated. Maybe give him more water or water/juice mix.

Okay so it probably wasnt from inside his body. B/c it was bright red! Thanks Ill give him some fruit

I would call the pediatrician. When ds had blood in his stool the pediatrician wanted to see us. I brought the diaper with us, and they tested it to confirm it was blood. He was getting over a bout of diarrhea so they weren't too concerned as long as we didn't see it again.

SIL spent the weekend with her baby in the hospital having bloody stools and diarrhea. They were concerned about a possible milk sensitivity among other things.

Wyatt had a little and it I waited to see if it was in his next poopy diaper. When it wasn't, I decided not to worry! If it had been there again, I would have called the Ped!

Blood can come from the inside even if it's bright red. It all depends on where in the GI track it's coming from. Odds are it is from the outside, but call the PEDS to be sure.

Totally agree! Definitely call the ped! Better to be safe than sorry!
