Diaper Swappers

The top of my 18 month old boy's ear is all red and puffy. Anyone have any ideas on what is causing this? I just noticed this today.

If my daughter's had anything to do with it, they aren't talking.

I don't know if it is a bump of some sort, or something else. Any info would be appreciated.

i know it sounds odd..but my ds's ears get all red and puffy as an allergic reaction...often to poison ivy..seems to be avery sensitive spot for him..first time it happened we brought him to the dr and they all thought it was a bug bite..but it seems to happen at least once or twice a summer...

I thought it might be an allergic reaction. The only thing with that is, why just the one ear? But I guess it is possible to affect only one ear. Mosquitos are really bad here right now, so I also thought it might be that, but I don't see a bite mark on him.

It just looks red and and puffy right on the top rim. The other ear looks just fine.

It doesn't seem to bother him. I gave him a little motrin before bed thinking that might help the inflammation. I just wish I knew what was wrong.

I usually use Benadryl for the puffiness..works well...depending how old he is I guess.

He woke up and was pulling on it. I don't know if it was hurting or if he was trying to itch it. i gave him about 1/2 teaspoon of benedryl, so maybe that will help. Thanks for the tip! hopefully it will look better in the morning.
