Yeast and Gentian Violet

Ds has a yeast rash in his diaper area. I picked up some 7th generation disposable diapers and gentian violet to use on it, but I have never used it before so I was looking for any info available on it. I applied it tonight and boy was it messy. Ds's entire diaper area and part of his stomach are purple. ANy tips on applying without making a mess? Also how long do I need to use it? The Dr said it is a very mild case, so I am guessing it shouldn't take long to clear up. I am anxious to get him back in cloth, I hate sposies. I don't know how I will even tell when the rash is gone as I can't see the pink because his skin is now dyed purple.

I've never heard anyone using GV on the genital area???? just in mouth of baby or nipples of mom. Let me know how it works out......

Me either. I do know GV stains BIG TIME! I used an over the counter anti-fungal cream and my DD's bad rash was gone in a day. The thrush was much harder to get rid of.
