Shelagh (pronounced Shayla) Noelle was born 2/11/2013 at 11:42. She weighed 7 lbs 10 oz and is 20" long. Many prayers were answered in her birth!

We were due 2/18, but My water broke Sunday at 5:30 am. My prayer was that I deliver during the week as my Midwife was unavailable on the weekends. God was gracious and allowed me to do this.

I had searched and searched for a doula, but none were available. I'd delivered w/doulas twice, but one is too far away and another had a client for when I was due. However, since Shelagh came a week early, she called and informed me that she would attend our birth! Without her I would have never made it through labor without interventions.

The labor was quick and I was able to have a water birth. It was unintended and I was told that it was unavailable in this facility. There are tubs, but they are not intended for birthing, just labor. I was able to soak in the tub, which provided much needed pain relief. As I began to stand, just getting one foot under me, but still on the bottom of the tub, Shelagh was born. No pushing, no warning. It was so fast that it was missed by the MW, and put my hubby in near shock.

It has been one joyful, busy, exhausting month. Life is just now beginning to flow once more. Thank God for a hubby and an oldest DD who take shifts and allow me to sleep! Thank God for encapsulated placenta!
