Re: Do you supplement with Vitamin D?

I've never used it. I live in South Texas where it's sunny 11 months out of the year, with a bit of chill thrown in for about 2 months. We are outside all the time and I know that both of my kids get plenty of Vitamin D from the sun

Yes, we give a half dropperful of D-Vi-Sol each day. (Unless we forget, which unfortunately has been happening a lot lately.)

But I live in AZ and its always time to be outside. In the summer when its HOT we just go outside early in the morning.
I know skin cancer is a big deal, but I feel healthier if I get a nice tan in the summer.

I honestly don't mean to hi-jack but please be careful and use sunscreen Melanoma is now presenting itself and children and is considered to be fatal if not found at stage 1. (I've lost a family member to this dz) or at least put it on the kids

Re: Do you supplement with Vitamin D?

I live in MN so yeah, we supplement It is one thing that does not pass through breastmilk very well so everyone in the house gets their own supplements.

I buy mine locally from swanson health products, but I believe their online price is also very competitive!

Re: Do you supplement with Vitamin D?

I would think the sun was enough, not enough people get sun light. I take a multivitamin, my daughter has slightly low iron (its supposed to be 10.9, hers is 10.8) and i give both my kids the gummi multi vitamins and give them foods high in iron and calcium to help.

Re: Do you supplement with Vitamin D?

No. I supplement myself. I take 4000iu a day (I think 5 is recommended) and made sure the babe got a little natural light as well. It's not as readily absorbed this way, but IMO I'd rather supplement me than a newborn. I didn't want anything in their mouth except my milk! :-)
